Who We Are

Laura Dorn

Laura’s deep passion and admiration for the arts started at age three, when her parents made the very wise decision to sit an overexcited child down at a piano. The love for music that resulted is still at the core of everything she does today, weaving its way into her creative process. The first time she was on stage, 6-year-old Laura played the witch in Hänsel und Gretel - she partly blames this for her deep affection for antagonists and villains. She has never played a “good guy”.

After attending Lycée Jean Renoir in Munich, Laura spent almost a decade in the United Kingdom, where she studied Art History, Film and Theatre Studies, Dramaturgy and Directing. Along this path, she met Jonathan, the instant connection with whom blossomed into a friendship, a collaboration and finally a partnership for life, out of which Experimentorium was born.

Since returning to Munich, Laura has not only developed her academic career as a Provenance Researcher but has also shifted to a producing career in TV, working on several High-End streaming projects.

Her artistic ambition is to create work that is intellectually and visually stimulating, promotes cultural exchanges across Europe and fulfils her number one aim: to simultaneously challenge and entertain you.

In her free time, Laura has been doing Pilates and Yoga since before they were cool, learns a language (or two) and hates cardio. She is currently working on a novel, a feature script and looking for a job. She’s not a big fan of anyone who takes things (or themselves) too seriously.

Jonathan spent as much of his childhood as possible acting, and when there was no stage available, playing out endless imaginary games for himself in the garden. This continued throughout his time at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School and while studying creative writing and American Literature at the University of East Anglia. In 2011 he performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Alongside (and sometimes tangled into) the drama, Jonathan played and recorded guitar and bass in numerous bands, eventually touring around the UK. He also plays violin and piano.

In 2016 Jonathan enrolled in the Masters Programme in Text and Performance at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he met Laura and the two developed their instant connection into a working practice that would become Experimentorium, and a romance.

Continuing to work independently as an actor and musician, in 2021, Jonathan decided to further his training at the Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich, Germany. In 2025 he joined the Junges Ensemble at the Badische Landesbühne.

As a performer, Jonathan has a particular focus on physical theatre, specialising in the Corporeal Mime style of Étienne Decroux and the movement training of Rudolf Laban.

Whenever possible, Jonathan loves to get out into the wilderness through cross-country running and hiking, he is also a keen skier and swimmer and enthusiastic in Yoga and Pilates (once Laura introduced him to both). He loves reading, gin and tonic and travel - not necessarily in that order and sometimes all at the same time.
